Lions tame Tigers in JPL trial match

JAMMU, May 24: Jammu Premier League (JPL) Lions tamed JPL Tigers by 6 wickets in the third and final match of the ongoing selection trial matches for picking three players from 30 selected probables of Jammu Premier League for advanced coaching/training.
JPL Tigers won the first two matches in the three match selection trials, however in the last match held today, JPL Lions prevailed upon Tigers to make it 2-1 in the competition.
Earlier, batting first JPL Tigers scored a fighting total of 136 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Touseef slammed a half-century (50) with the help of 7 boundaries, while Adnan and Jaspreet contributed 20 and 15 runs to the total respectively. Left-arm spinner Abid Mushtaq was the wrecker-in-chief, who scalped 3 important wickets, while Shiv Dutt and Siddant claimed one wicket each.
JPL Lions, in reply chased the target easily in 19 overs, losing 4 wickets in the process, thus won the match by 6 wickets. Nihal Khajuria top scored with 40 runs including 7 boundaries, while Abid Mushtaq contributed 37 runs with the help of 6 boundaries. Sunil also contributed 25 runs to the total, while Siddant and Satish chipped in 15 and 12 runs respectively. Ankush took 2 wickets for JPL Tigers, while Muzamil and Saksham claimed one wicket each.
The match was officiated by Saleem-ur-Rehman and Mukesh Sharma as umpires, while Arvind maintained the scorebook.
The matches were organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports and J&K State Sports Council, under the directions of Minister for Sports, RS Chib and under the supervision of the Director Youth Services and Sports, Jaipal Singh. Deputy Directors (Jammu) and (Central) Youth Services and Sports, SS Bali and Ashok Kumar respectively, were the organizing secretaries.
