Malik inaugurates Digital Language lab, other facilities at GDC Ploura

Summer camp takes off at GCW Parade

Jammu, May 24: Minister for Higher Education, Labour and Employment, Abdul Gani Malik inaugurated the newly established Digital Language Lab here at Government Degree College (GDC) Paloura, here today.
On the occasion, the Minister also inaugurated fully Automated Library of the college and reviewed the upgraded canteen facilities created for catering to the students with hygienic surroundings, besides a book titled “Psychological Foundations of Education” written by Dr Davinder Kour (HOD Education) of the College was also released by the Minister.
The event also witnessed, a presentation highlighting the usage of interactive teacher panel and student pads, a new teaching aid, to be introduced in the college from the next session. This aid will be highly useful in teaching the students of the college and make teacher-student learning process interesting and more interactive.
While interacting with the faculty members, the Minister emphasised the need for introducing such information technology based gadgets in all education institutions.
He appreciated the efforts of the college management for taking up various development projects to upgrade the college infrastructure for the convenience of the students.
Dr Hemla Aggarwal, Principal of the College, expressed her gratitude to the Minister for encouraging and appreciating the staff for their efforts to create better teaching learning atmosphere in the college.
Earlier, the Minister inaugurated one month Summer Camp at Government College for Women (GCW) Parade Jammu. The camp has been organised by Post Graduate department of Home Sciences (GCW) in collaboration with Indian World Creative Art Institute founded by Ms Sanjogita.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister highlighted the importance of higher education in the growth and development of the society. He said college education gives a new vision and thought to the youth for leading the country towards progress and development.
The Minister honoured the students for their outstanding performance in the graduation results. He also honoured Preeti Bhardari, Ist Women IFS of the State and an alumnus of the GWC Parade.
Principal of the College Kiran Bakshi, in her welcome address said that in quest for salubrious growth of the young students, such summer camps are important.
Dr Aruna Dubey from the PG Department of Home Science gave an overview of the camp and apprised the audience about activities to be imparted to the participants.
