JAMMU, Nov 7: Assistant Professor at Department of Botany in University of Jammu (JU), Dr. Harish Chander Dutt received prestigious ‘Badal Datta Award in Ethnobotany’ for his contributions in ethnobotanical research.
The award constituting a gold medal and citation was conferred upon Dr Dutt by East Himalayan Society for Spermatophyte Taxonomy (EHSST) during the national webinar organized by Mansarovar Global University, Bhopal and EHSST on November 6-7, 2020, wherein Dr. Dutt presented his ethnobotanical research contributions in the form of an award lecture entitled ‘My 15 years’ journey from Alpha to Beta ethnobotany’. While discussing about various ethnobotanical explorations he has conducted in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh, he stressed upon methods adopted by him for systematic data collection from villagers, nomads and tribes in the erstwhile J&K State.
