JAMMU, Nov 12: The PHE daily wagers and casual labourers of all the departments who were on agitational path since long today called off their strike.
The decision in this regard was taken in a meeting of all the workers held under the banner of All Departments Casual Labour United Front, Jammu Province. It was decided that all the workers will resume their duties from tomorrow.
The Front leaders said that this decision was taken after the assurance by the Lt Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday. During meeting with the leaders of the United Front with the Lt Governor in present of BJP State president Ravinder Raina and BJP MP Jugal Kishore Sharma on Wednesday, it was assured by the LG that he will not disappoint them and take a favourable decision in this regard. The Lt Governor listened all the issues of the striking workers patiently and realized that their issues regarding regularization, salary every month, minimum wages act and pending earned of wages were justified and genuine. Lieutenant Governor assured all the members that they will not be disappointed with him.
Therefore, today all the district presidents and general secretaries of the Front met and it was decided to postpone the strike and all the members of the Front extended gratitude to BJP president Ravindra Raina and Jammu Poonch Lok Sabha MP Jugal Kishore for their effort to resolve their demands.
Prominent among them included- Satish Sharma, Hoshiar Singh, Jyoti Parkash, Binkel Manhas, Rakesh Kumar, Rashpal Singh and others.
