ANANTNAG, Nov 12: The Physical Education and Sports Department of Govt. Degree College Bijbehara today organised Inter-College Badminton Tournament 2020, here.
Principal Govt. Degree College Kulgam Prof. Ab. Rehman Najar was the chief guest on the occasion.
While addressing the gathering, Prof. Najar appreciated the College for organizing such a tournament amid other important activities. He also congratulated the host Principal for maintaining the highest academic standards despite the college being in the infancy stage of development.
Principal GDC Bijbehara, Prof. Nighat Fatima highlighted the importance of sports in the development of mental, social and physical well being.
She said that sports have an added importance especially amid COVID-19 pandemic and lockdown thereof as it has badly affected the physical, mental and emotional well being of people in general and students in particular.
Prof. Fatima advised the participant students to follow the COVID-19 SOPs in letter and spirit and asked them to put their absolute potential in the game without bothering about the results.
Later, an inaugural game was also played between GDC Dooru and GDC Kilam, the shuttle was tossed by the chief guest and GDC Dooru won the toss.
In the end, GDC Kilam won the game by outplaying GDC Dooru with some brilliant play.
