SRINAGAR, Apr 30: Army sponsored 23 students of Kargil studying at Sarhad Public School Pune under Operation Sadhbhavna reached Kargil today and were welcomed by the top Army officials including the GOC 8-Mountain Division, Major General Shokeen Chouhan.
The GOC and Commander 121 Infantry Brigade Kargil, Brigadier Majander Singh, welcomed them at Khumbathang Kargil. On this occasion Students of Army Goodwill School Harka Bhadur presented cultural programmes.
Major General Shokeen Chouhan said that these students are the ambassador of Kargil and they are the true symbol of national integration as they are studying at Sarhad Pune with students from all over India. Stressing on the need to portray the real picture of Kargil, Ladakh he advised the students to act as a media between Ladakh and rest of the world and spread the culture, tradition and ethnicity of Ladakh their in Pune to their colleagues who will further take these messages to their respective States/districts. Describing the oath of Indian Army Jawan aur Awam, GOC told that it is a step in the development of the poor people of Kargil.
The GOC also requested the students to help those students of the villages from where they belong, by the exposure and education they got at Sarhad Pune so that most of the students get benefited from their knowledge.
