Man axed to death on Mughal Road

RAJOURI, May 1:  A 50-year-old villager from Thanna Mandi area of Rajouri was axed to death at a `Dhok’ near Pir Ki Gali on Mughal Road today.
The deceased has been identified as  Fazal Hussain, son of  Bader Din, resident of Khus Tarote in Thanna Mandi. The villager along with his few members  and sheep/ goats and cattle had gone to the Dhok at Sukhan Di Sarai near Pir Ki Gali, falling in Shopian district.  There was some dispute with other family over this Dhok.
The police said some unknown persons attacked Fazal Hussain with axe and inflicted at least half a dozen injuries. Then they escaped from the spot. He fell down the died on the spot.
The police party rushed the spot after coming to know about the incident. The body was shifted to Shopian for postmortem and later handed over to the family at Thanna Mandi this evening. The police said that a case has been registered in this connection and investigation started. Police said that some assailants have been identified on the basis of certain information but they were evading arrest.
