POONCH, Nov 22: Poonch District Athletics Championship, organised by District Athletics Association in categories under-14, under-16, under-18, under-20 and Open, concluded at Sports Stadium, here today.
In Shot Put open, Manmeet Singh got first place while Amandeep Singh clinched 2nd place and Nazakat Hussain secured 3rd position while in Javelin throw open, Sandeep Singh bagged 1st position wheras Manmeet Singh and Mohd Mahiar bagged 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
In U-14 girls 100 mtrs, Sadia Mushtaq, Mehnaz Rather and Siara Bano bagged 1st, 2nd & 3rd positions respectively whereas in Open 100 mtrs girls, Rozia Kouser, Tasleem Akhter and Farzana Kouser clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
In U-20 3000 mtrs, Mohd Usman, Mohd Iqbal and Mehtab Ahmed got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively while Abrar Ahmed, Wasim Ahmed and Wasim Akram bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in U-10 200 mtrs category.
Wasim Akram, Refaket Hussain and Mehtab Ahmed secured 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in Under-18 400 meters while in under-18 800 mtrs, Mohd Javid, Mohd Umar and Mumtaz Ahmed clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively.
Prabjot Singh, Wasim Akram and Waheed Mushtaq clinched 1st, 2nd and 3nd positions respectively in U-18 2000 mtrs while Mohd Umar, Abrar Ahmed and Mohd Asif clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in U-18 1600 mtrs.
Azaz Ahmed and Mehmood Ahmed got 1st and 2nd positions in U-14 boys 100 mtrs while Ramandeep Singh, Kushal Thakur and Tohiab Jahangir clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in 200 mtrs.
In U-16 boys 100 mtrs, Syed Mohsin, Vardhanveer Singh and Anganddeep Singh bagged 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively whereas Syed Mohsin, Anganddeep Singh and Toufeeq Ahmed got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively in 400 mtrs.
In U-16,800 mtrs, Mohd Javid, Riaz Ahmed and Ramandeep Singh clinched 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions respectively while Mohd Shahid, Dhanveer Singh and Wasim Akram got 1st, 2nd and 3rd positions in 100 mtrs respectively.
Ex MLC, Jahangir Mir was the chief guest on the closing ceremony.
Speaking on occasion the chief guest applauded the efforts of the Association for providing platform to players of far flung areas of district Poonch. He also distributed certificates among the meritorious players. The championship was organised under the technical supervision of Ravinder Singh and Vikas Sharma.
