JAMMU, Dec 6: Bahu Fort Police arrested a man who was impersonating as Inspector of National Investigation Agency (NIA).
As per police spokesman, today a written complaint was lodged at Police Station Bahu Fort by a person namely Pritam Lal, son of Sandhoku Ram of Amb Gharota Tehsil Bhalwal District Jammu stating that a person identified as Mainder Pal Singh, son of Bopinder Singh of village Chattogram, Tral District Pulwama came in contact with him and Mainder Pal posed himself to be Inspector of Police presently attached in National Investigation Agency (NIA) and hired his Innova vehicle bearing registration number JK02CC-1150.
“Mainder Pal Singh convinced complainant that one more vehicle is required to be attached with Deputy Superintendent of Police (DySP) of NIA. On this, complainant purchased new Scorpio car and gave it to Mainder Pal Singh who assured complainant that he will get Rs 60000 month for each vehicle”, spokesman added.
Police spokesman informed that initially Mainder Pal Singh gave some payment to complainant but later adopted dilly delaying tactics for giving payment on one pretext or the other. On this complainant became suspicious and reported the matter to Police Station Bahu Fort, he added.
“Acting over the complaint, a case under FIR Number 333/2020 under Sections 420, 170 and 171 IPC was registered at Police Station Bahu Fort and hunt was launched to arrest the impersonator”, police spokesman informed.
On specific information, a team from Police Station Bahu Fort led by SHO Inspector Deepak Pathania arrested the accused.
Further investigation is going on.
