JAMMU, Dec 11: All Jammu and Kashmir Rehbar-e-Khel Teachers Forum today staged protest demonstration and demanded two years probation period at par with other Union Territories of the country.
The protest was organised under the leadership of Deeraj Salaria, overall in-charge of the Forum of Jammu division. They were chanting slogans in favour of their demands. Today afternoon, they assembled near Red Cross Society Office at Kachhi Chawani and started moving towards Lieutenant Governor House, Panjtirthi but their march was stopped midway by police.
Deeraj Salaria while talking with media persons said that they have knocked every door of the Administration for their genuine demands but nobody gave heed to their matter so far. “Our children are facing starvation and we are not in a position to arrange proper bread and butter for our kids,” he added.
“We are given Rs 100 per day and Rs 3000 per month which is sheer violation of Minimum Wage Act, which has not been implemented in Jammu and Kashmir depriving the educated youth of their genuine demands,” said Salaria.
Another Rehbar -e-Khel teacher said that the then PDP-BJP Government had appointed nearly 3000 youth as Physical Education Teachers having BPed, MPed, M.Phil and Ph.D degree under this scheme through a Cabinet order in February 2017. “In February, 2020, they met with then Lt Governor, GC Murmu and he assured that all the issues will be resolved within 15 days and constituted a five members committee,” he added.
They protestors said that however, the committee was asked by the then Lt Governor to recommend solution at par Rehbar-e-Janglat and Rehbar-e-Zirat employees but after lapse of sufficient time, the committee failed to submit its recommendation so far.
They demanded incumbent Lieutenant Governor, Manoj Sinha and Chief Secretary to resolve their demands as soon as possible, otherwise they will start hunger strike.
