SRINAGAR, Dec 11: Department of Youth Services and Sports commenced snow skiing courses at Gulmarg, here today.
Around 1000 youth from across the Jammu and Kashmir will be trained during the three month long coaching camp that too, in phased manners.
It is pertinent to mention here that the complete expenditure on account of loading boarding, equipments along with transportation will be borne by the Department concerned.
Joint Director Kashmir, Bashmir Ahmad today inaugurated the training course and while interacting with the trainees, he expressed his gratitude to them for participating in the programme. He emphasized that all COVID-19 advisories and guidelines issued by the Government should be followed in letter and spirit.
He said that the department has taken many initiatives to engage the youth in gainful sports activities across the UT of Jammu and Kashmir. He said that around twenty thousand boys and girls participated in trekking programmes, conducted by the DYSS recently.
He also informed that out of the six, snow skiing courses to be conducted at Gulmarg this winter, two courses have been reserved for female participants. He advised the trainers to be humble and patient with the trainees during training and treat them like their own kinds.
