Sport Climbing Championship from May 25

JAMMU, May 7: Mountaineering Association of J&K in collaboration with Sprawling Buds School, Chinore, Jammu is organizing the 13th J&K State Sport Climbing Championship at Tenzing Norgay Sport Climbing Wall in the Sprawling Buds School premises from May 25, 2013.
Almost all the prominent climbers of the State including Shivani Raj Kaith, a former National champion, Rajeev Sharma, a former National medalist and other reigning State Champions have already confirmed their participation in the 2-day competition.
About 200 boys and girls from throughout the State are expected to vie for honours in the prestigious competition. In case the participation exceeds 200 the competition may extend for another day.
The competition which is open to climbers belonging to J&K only shall be held in 8 categories of Men, Women, Boys, Girls, Sub Junior Boys/ Girls and Mini Boys/Girls. Whereas climbers in the Men, Women, Boys and Girls shall compete in Lead as well as Speed Climbing, the participants in the Sub Junior and Mini categories would participate in Lead climbing only.
The competitions shall be held on the recently renovated 40 ft high wall as per IFSC rules. However, qualification rounds in all the categories shall be held on top rope.
The championship is likely to be inaugurated by S Bhattacharjee, Chairman, Indian Mountaineering Foundation North Zone Committee who will be the Guest of Honour.
A galaxy of national and international sport climbers, mountaineers and sports organizers are likely to be special guests on the occasion.
