T20 Cricket teaches innovation, improvisation: Bhan

JAMMU, May 7: The T20 Cricket or you may call it the shortest form of cricket, teaches one innovation and improvisation, which are the ‘mantras’ to succeed in life and touch heights.
This was expressed by Ashok Bhan, former Director General of Police, J&K while addressing a large gathering of sportspersons from Jagti Township and adjoining areas during a valedictory function of the KPS Centenary T20 Cricket Cup at Jagti, here today.
Mr Bhan, who was the chief guest on the occasion, said that sports and games besides helping the youth to be physically fit, inculcate moral values, team spirit and sense of oneness in them.
He further said that it the involvement in sports activities that helps the youth not to derail from the mainstream and avoid doing drugs and allied things.
Earlier, Tornado Cricket Club thrashed Oriental Cricket Club by 8 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first OCC scored a decent total of 147 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing 5 wickets in the process. In reply, Tornado rode on a brilliant half-century (52) runs by Rahul Mussa scored the required runs by losing just 2 wickets to win the match by 8 wickets. For his fabulous innings, Rahul Mussa was adjudged man of the match.
The winners were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 30,000 alongwith a trophy by the chief guest, while the runners-up team was presented a cash prize of Rs 20,000 and a trophy.
Meanwhile, CL Sadhu, Executive Member KP Sabha and convener Magazine ‘Naad’ also presented a cash prize of Rs 1000 to the winning team from his own pocket.
Earlier, in his welcome address, KK Khosa, president Kashmiri Pandit Sabha said that it was the third Centenary Celebration of the Sabha, however, the first of its kind, adding that the Jagti people should take inspiration from the personalities like Ashok Bhan, who has been instrumental in serving as a beacon-light in guiding and goading people in any kind of situation, besides being a sincere, honest person and dynamic administrator.
Moti Kaul, president, All India Kashmiri Samaj while speaking on the occasion committed to donate an amount of Rs 50,000 in favour of KP Sabha towards promoting Kashmiri Pandit Youth in sports and allied fields.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by SL Bagati, general secretary, KP Sabha, Jammu.
Prominent among others present on the occasion were Prof AN Sadhu, Ashok Braro, Ashwani Koul, GJ Campassi and Ashok Khar.
