Police officer co-accused in poaching case

LEH, Dec 26: An Inspector rank Police officer has been made co-accused in the poaching cases after finding various proof of his involvement.
Police Inspector Parvez Ahmed who is presently posted at PHQ UT Ladakh went underground soon after his name surfaced in the poaching case and he remained absent from his duty for two days.
He applied for anticipatory bail but District and session Court granted him interim bail with a condition that he have to report to wildlife office daily from 10 AM to 4 PM.
The 39 yr old prime accused Attahullah Bhat earlier sent for judicial custody till 1st January was also granted bail.
As per sources, gun which was used in the blue sheep hunting belongs to co-accused Parvez Ahmed’s elder brother Ghulam Nabi. As per sources 25 live bullets also recovered from Ghulam Nabi house during raid and Wildlife Department continue raiding various places in search of more evidence.
Reportedly District Magistrate Sachin Kumar had initiated the process to cancel his Gun license.
Sources said Wildlife Department recovered Blue sheep fur from co-accused vehicle which will be been sent for Forensic Lab Report after court permission.
As per information Wildlife Department also recovered one bullet from the injured Blue sheep thus making the poaching case stronger. The condition of the blue sheep is stated to be very critical.
Meanwhile, Police Department is yet to initiate an action against accused Police Inspector.
When IGP Ladakh SS Khandare was contacted for his comment he said, “As and when the Department is informed by Wildlife Department, we will proceed ahead as per Service Conduct Rules and Police manual on merits”
“We have collected all the evidences and are still on track. There will be no laxity in the case and are hopeful to get the culprits punished”, said Chief Wildlife Warden Sajjad Hussian Mufti when asked for his comment.
