Global Solace’s Sports Carnival concludes

JAMMU, Dec 27: Terming it need of the hour, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan announced that Jagti Township will be provided with indoor and outdoor sports facility soon.
Khan announced it while speaking on the valedictory function of the week-long Sports Carnival, organized by NGO Global Solace, Rising Athlete Jagti and supported by Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj at Jagti, here today.
Lavishing praise on the organisers for holding the event in a befiting manner, Mr Khan, who was chief guest on the occasion said that sports facilities in Jagti will cater to the needs of thousands of youth and will help them not to derail from the mainstream.
He said that he was delighted to see the talent of youngsters, adding that they need to be groomed to blossom at the higher levels.
Mr Khan assured the organisers that sports arena to be developed at Township will be provided with all the infrastructural, equipmental and supporting staff facilities like managers, coaches and mentors etc.
He said coaches and trainers of repute in various disciplines of sports will be engaged to train the youngsters.
Mr Khan was highly impressed by the talent of young sportspersons and said that one-day they will bring laurels for the Union Territory and the nation as well.
The chief guest distributed sports kits among the winners of the Sports Carnival on the occasion.
Earlier, Kiran Wattal, Convener Vishwa Kashmiri Samaj presented welcome address and gave brief introduction of the dignitaries who were presented lifetime achievement awards and awards for sports excellence on the occasion.
The proceedings of the programme were conducted by Pintoo Ji, President Global Solace, the architect of this Sports Carnival.
Those who were honoured with lifetime achievement award included Dr Sushil Razdan, eminent Neurologist; BL Bhat, renowned social worker; Prof Ashok Aima, VC Central University Jammu; Dr Agnishekhar, famous Hindi poet, intellectual and well known Kashmiri Pandit leader; Rakesh Gupta, chairman Tourism Federation; Dushyant Sharma, International Wrestler; Arjuna Awardee Krupali Singh, Indian Gymnastics Coach and Kuldeep Handoo, Dronacharya Awardee and Chief Wushu Coach of India.
Those who received award of honour and sports excellence awards included Ramesh Hangloo, Ravinder Singh, Sunil Sharma, Kuldeep Sapru, Rajesh Dhar, Bavleen Kour and Mohd Tariq.
The special guests who were felicitated included Dr Gautam Goel, Dr Rajesh Thusoo, Shivani Koul Bhat, BL Dhar, MK Yogi, Parupkar Singh, Prem Sharma, MK Bangroo and Kuldeep Luthra.
The camp representatives who were felicitated on the occasion were Sahil Pandita, president Rising Athlete Jammu; TK Dhar, PL Thussoo, AK Sadhu, Ajay Kumar Bhat, Priya Bhat, Dazy Bazaz, Chandra Dhar, Akshay Garoo, Amit Dhar and Surinder Bhat.
JK Bhoomi Human Welfare Society staged a play on the occasion titled ‘Pasakdhar’ written by JK Koul (Baizan) and directed by Jatinder Jotshi. The play was assisted by Kamal Sagar, music was given by Anmol Raj, while the artists included Jatinder Jotshi, Daisy Bazaz, Vinay Pandita, Rahul Pandita, Sushil Bhat, Ramesh Pandita, Vijay Raina and Priyanka Pandita.
Meanwhile, the winners of various age groups in Badminton included Kartik, Milan, Mayank, Sagar, Nehal, Adit, Manvi, Kanika, Supriya and Mansi.
The winners in Chess included Sami Shah and Mohit Pandita.
The winners in Carrom were Akhilesh and Suraj Dhar.
The winners in Powerlifting included Nikhil and Akshay. Besides these events, the team games Football and Volleyball were played and the winners were felicitated by the chief guest on the occasion.
