JAMMU, Dec 30: All India Confederation of SC, ST, OBC Organisations have appealed to the Lt Governor, J&K Manoj Sinha to clear the backlog of the reserved categories.
In a memorandum submitted to Sinha, the Confederation highlighted the latest grievances regarding violation of recruitment rules and pending backlog of SC, ST, OBCs in J&K. RK Kalsotra, president, highlighted that JKSSB conducted written examination for the post of Executive Officers on May 9, 2019 and result of written test submitted to H&UDD for further selection. One of the candidates appointed vide Government Order No.140 dated 21.04.2020 belonging to reserved category of SC has not joined the post and created a vacant post under runner-up wait list merits.
Candidates of next wait list merits have made various written representations and paying visits since April, 2020 to the Office of H&UDD Jammu for appointment under wait list merits but till date the H&UDD authorities have not taken any action.
Kalsotra said that this is just one such instance. Many times the waiting lists are either not released or not implemented. He said that such attitude of the administration is not new and has being followed by and large against the interest of the vulnerable sections. Kalotra said that due to instances like these, the SC/ST/OBC youth is denied equal opportunity and this creates a backlog. Currently, there is one lakh pending backlog in J&K for SC/ST/OBCs.
He said that time and again, such issues are raised by Confederation, delegations `gheraoed’ the State Assembly, met CMs and LGs but till date no heed is paid to the issue. This highlights the reluctance of the administration to strive for betterment of the vulnerable sections.
Kalsotra demanded that the administration should take the matter with utmost seriousness and address the grievances of the aggrieved candidates as well as issue notifications to concerned departments to clear the pending backlog.
