Srinagar, Jan 11: As Bird Flu scare rages on, several birds were found dead in Uri villages of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district in the last couple of days.
Locals have informed that they have found crows and eagles dead in villages like Chollan, Dani Seydan and Paranpillan, which has triggered panic.
Amid the panic, the locals have asked the administration as well as the concerned department to look into the matter and dispatch an expert team to the areas to ascertain the actual causes of death.
Chief Animal Husbandry Officer Baramulla Dr Syed Muhammad Anwar Andrabi told Excelsior that he has asked the teams to reach the concerned areas and take the samples to ascertain the cause of death.
“While there is no need to panic, I have still asked the experts to reach the concerned areas and take the samples. These teams would have reached there, but the reports came in in the evening. I can tell you for sure that there is no case of bird flu so far reported from the district,” he said.
He also added that it would have been a matter if these birds found dead were migratory birds. “By tomorrow, the situation will be clear and will update the locals as well as the administration accordingly,” he said.
