JAMMU, Jan 25: Prof Bechan Lal from Banaras Hindu University has been appointed as new Vice-Chancellor of the Cluster University of Jammu for the next three years.
The appointment was made by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, also Chancellor of the University, in exercise of the powers vested in him under Section 12 of the Srinagar and Jammu Cluster Universities Act 2016.
“I Manoj Sinha, Chancellor, Cluster university of Jammu, hereby appoint Professor Bechan Lal as Vice -Chancellor of the Cluster University of Jammu for a period of three years with effect from the date he takes over charge,” read the order in this regard, issued by the Raj Bhawan, here this evening.
An alumni of BHU and presently serving a Professor of Science in the same institution, Dr Bechan Lal has also served as member on Board of Directors, UP Fisheries Development Corporation, Lucknow; Member of National Working Group of NISCAIR, CSIR, New Delhi for ebook writing on Zoology; National Co-ordinator of UGC e-Pathshala on Zoology subject; Member, Research Advisory Committee of National Bureau of Fish Genetic Resource, Lucknow, ICAR, New Delhi; Member, QRT of Central Institute of Freshwater Aquaculture (ICAR), Bhubneswar; Member, National Advisory Committee on National Project on Hilsa Seed Production and Culture; Member Project Screening Committee (Fisheries), ICAR, New Delhi; Members on Board of Studies in Zoology of several university.
He has also served as member of National Committee for Purpose of Control and Supervision of Experiments on Animal (CPCSEA), Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change, Govt of India and General Secretary, Indian Society for Comparative Endocrinology.
