JMC fails on all fronts in Gandhi Nagar: Namrta

JAMMU, Jan 27: Apni Party provincial president, Women Wing, Namrta Sharma today alleged that Jammu Municipal Corporation (JMC) has failed on all fronts, especially cleanliness in Gandhi Nagar.
“The lanes and drains have not been cleaned in some of the areas and the water logging in other areas during rainy season has exposed JMC,” Namrta said.
She was addressing a public meeting in Gandhi Nagar in which women appraised her about issues they were facing.
“The streetlights have not been replaced despite repeated pleas from the locals in many places and the unscheduled power cuts have put the normal life out of gear,” said Namrta.
The local women appraised her about poor drinking water supply. The PHE, PDD and JMC should have put in coordinated efforts to mitigate the problems of the people, she added.
“The unhygienic conditions have multiplied the problems for the people. The door to door collection has collapsed as hardly any garbage is being collected by the Corporation employees,” she said. On this occasion, a group of women also joined the Apni Party.
Namrta said “The heaps of garbage in many places can be witnessed with no sanitization worker cleaning the localities.” She appealed to the authorities concerned to redress the issues of the people and make Gandhi Nagar model for rest of Jammu by implementing the cleanliness, door-to-door collection of garbage and installing street lights.
