JAMMU, Jan 29: Consumer Welfare Association (CWA), Jammu has strongly resented the Government decision of re-opening schools from February 1, 2021.
In its meeting, presided over by Er S K Gupta, CWA alleged that the Government decision was taken in haste.
“Though vaccines for COVID- 19 have arrived and are being administered to the front line workers of Health Department and others to follow will be other categories of persons as per guidelines issued by the Govt, yet common citizens will get their turn much later, may be towards the end of 2021. It is not yet clear as to when children, especially those upto 12 years would get inoculated,” said Mr Gupta and added that school going children of classes upto 8th standard are very innocent and it is very difficult to ensure that school authorities and teaches will be able to maintain social distance , particularly while entering or leaving school premises , or during breaks.
CWA appealed to the authorities concerned to review the decision and in the least should keep students of classes upto 8th standard out of schools for some more period .
