JAMMU, May 18: National Secular Forum has urged the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for inclusion of new faces in Jammu and Kashmir State Sports Council to give impetus to sports activities in the State.
Addressing media persons here today, Dr Vikas Sharma, state president NSF, said that the Chief Minister, who is the president of J&K State Sports Council, should personally look into the various sports activities being undertaken by the Council and give a chance to new faces in new body of Council so that a new direction to sports activities is given.
He added it was quite unfortunate that not even a single player from Jammu had been able to qualify for Asian or Olympic games till date. “The people with vested interests in Council are needed to be blamed for the poor show of the State in sports sector. The Chief Minister should seriously look into the issue and take some drastic measures to revive the sports activities,” the NSF state president said.
