JAMMU, May 18: Chairman, Ustad Akhara Dewan Mandir, Indian Style Wrestling Association as well as Moti Bazar Businessmen Society, Ustad Prem Choudhary, was conferred with ‘Sanstha Samman’ by Nami Dogri Sanstha (NDS) in a function held at KL Saigal Hall of Cultural Academy Complex, here today.
Senior Advocate, DC Raina, was the chief guest and additional secretary, Cultural Academy, Prof Savita Bakshi Ghai, was the guest of honour. Renowned Urdu short story writer, poet and senior advocate, Supreme Court of India, SS Anand Lehar, presided over the function while president, NDS, Dogra Harish Kaila also shared the dais.
A citation, a shawl and a memento were presented to Ustad Prem Choudhary by the dignitaries.
DC Raina, while addressing the gathering, said that Ustad Prem Choudhary is the senior most wrestler and coach of 1974-75 batch and reminded all of the great sacrifices made by him to ensure that the economically weak section of the society be provided with education and sports facilities. He hoped that people would follow the path of Ustad Prem Choudhary.
Prof Ghai congratulated Nami Dogra Sanstha for its commitment to uplift the art, culture and sports in the State.
Advocate Lehar said that society can make doctors, engineers and politicians but art makes them good and humane. He mentioned that each one of us must have a goal where we want to be. Maintaining that good health and education is the key to success, he advised the youngsters to come forward and join sports activities to live a healthy life and become prominent personalities like Ustad Prem Choudhary.
Dogra Harish Kaila requested the people to preserve and flourish the music, Dogri culture and sports like wrestling in particular in the State.
