Panelists discuss impact of COVID on business on 2nd day of ‘Nakshatra’

JAMMU, Jan 31: The second day of “Nakshatra” – the first ever management conclave of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu continued with high enthusiasm from the students.
The first panel of the day consisted of industry experts from the Finance domain. The session chair and keynote speaker was Sandhya Sharma, Chief Financial Officer, Schindler India Private Limited. Other panelists were Raghuram Krishnan (Director- Finance, Adobe India), Ameya Oke (Senior Manager- Corporate FP&A, LTI), Devesh Goyal (Chief Financial Officer, Kimberly Clark India), Jitendra Dadhich (Director Finance, Cimpress), Aanchal Makkar (Senior Manager, EY) and Vikas Ralhan (Chief Financial Officer, LocoNav).
During the session, deliberations were held on impact of COVID-19 on the business sector. Talking about the expectations from the budget, the speakers said that MGNREGA should be given attention for more equitable distribution of wealth. They said that consistency in policy is needed for corporates along with some incentives for capital expenditure. They also agreed that labor reforms are also required, along with steps to boost demand and employment.
The discussion was then followed by an interactive Question & Answer session where the students put forth their ideas and queries regarding the panel discussion.
The Conclave continued to the second panel of the day, which consisted of industry experts from the Operations domain. The session chain and keynote speaker was Hanumat Sastry (Senior Purchase Manager, Britannia). Other panelists were Anindaya S Dutta (Lead Strategy & Operations, Reliance Jio), Venkata Sridharg G (Senior Associate Director, Kellogg Company), Amit Arora (General Manager, ACC), Siddharth Dash (Manager- Sales & Operations Planning, Amazon) and Rajeev Kumar (Logistics Operation Lead, Mondelez International).
The panelists discussed how critical learnings from pandemic. They said that plans are useless, but planning is a must, and that robust planning is needed to overcome problems due to the pandemic.
The session ended with an interactive Question & Answer round between the students and panelists.
