Mohali Warriors, Friends CC register wins in Gufran T20

DODA, May 19: Mohali Warriors and Friend Cricket Club Nagri scripted convincing wins against Orissa Cricket Club and Ayaan Cricket Club respectively in the ongoing All India 9th Gufran Memorial T20 Cricket Championship, being organised by Young Star Cricket Club Doda at Sports Stadium, here.
Earlier, in the first match, Mohali Warriors drubbed Orissa Cricket Club by 6 wickets in an easy contest. Batting first after winning the toss, Orissa Cricket Club scored 127 runs in stipulated 20 overs by losing 3 wickets. Jashkaran was the top scorer with 45 runs, while Yasib contributed 37 runs to the total. For Mohali Warriors, Akhil was the most successful blower who scalped 3 wickets.
In reply, Mohali Warriors chased the target in 13.3 overs by losing 4 wickets. Zeeshan was the highest scorer who scored 38 runs with the help of 1 six and 4 fours, while Lavesh contributed 36 runs to the total. From Orissa Cricket Club, Yasib and Manish shared 1 wicket each.
Zeeshan of Mohali Warriors was declared as man of the match for his superb batting display.
In another match, Friends Cricket Club Nagri defeated Ayaan Cricket Club.by 2 wickets in a close contest.
Batting first, Ayaan Cricket Club scored 100 runs in the stipulated overs by losing 9 wickets. Ashok scored 25 runs while Abdul Bari contributed 19 runs to the total. From Friends Cricket Club Nagri, Sajid and Aamir shared 2 wickets each.
In reply, Friends Cricket Club Nagri chased the target in 14.3 overs by losing their 8 wickets, thus won the match by 2 wickets.
Waseem was the highest scorer with 41 runs, while Asif contributed 35 runs to the total. For Ayaan Cricket Club, Arjun was the wrecker-in-chief who bagged 5 important wickets, while Sohan Singh took 2 wickets. Waseem of Friends Cricket Club was declared as man of the match for his splendid batting show.
The match was officiated by Ranji Trophy umpire Dharmesh Bhardwaj and Sanjay Singh while Rinku Badoria acted as scorer.
