JAMMU, May 27: Delhi Ranji trophy skipper and IPL player, Mithun Manhas, gave tips to Under-16 cricketers of Jammu district at GGM Science College Hostel ground, here today.
About 100 cricketers drawn from Government as also private institutions of Jammu district had assembled there to take part in the selection trials, being organized by the Department of Youth Services and Sports for picking the team to represent Jammu district in the forthcoming Inter-District Cricket Tournament.
Manhas gave them tips on basic skills of batting, bowling and wicket-keeping, besides bestowing them ‘mantra’ of mental toughness. He taught them how to judge the line and length of the ball and shift weight accordingly while batting and also taught them how to execute, focus and concentrate during wicket-keeping.
He stressed upon the budding cricketers to always remain sincere and truthful on and off the field for achieving their personal goals and at the same time helping Jammu and Kashmir to find a place on country’s cricketing map.
The boys after listening the IPL star keenly, cleared their doubts on skills of the game. The trials are being held under the supervision of the panel of experts of the Sports Department.
