JAMMU, May 27: Organised by All J&K Chess Association, the Junior State Chess Championship concluded at Hotel Nek, here today.
The selected players would represent J&K State in the forthcoming Junior Group Nationals to be held in Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Jharkhand and New Delhi.
Meanwhile, in girls section, Arushi Kotwal won Under-9 title, Meenal Gupta claimed under-11, while Avni Gupta and Akriti Kotwal claimed Under-13 and Under-15 titles respectively. Under-17 and Under-19 titles went to Nayandeep Kour and Manpreet Kour respectively.
In boys section, Arpat Katoch bagged Under-7 title, while Under-9 title was bagged by Shashnat Sharma. Under-11 and Under-17 boys titles went to Vikhyat Mehta and Vilakshan Mehta respectively.
Atul Gupta, president All J&K Chess Association and Baldev Raj general secretary distributed prizes among the winners on the occasion.
The matches were conducted by Ajit Singh and Rakesh Sadhotra.
Boys Under-13, 15 and 19 events shall be held at the same venue on June 10, 2012.
