NC had denied reservation to IB people: Balbir

JAMMU, Feb 7: Rebutting the politically motivated and oft repeated allegations of opposition parties especially National Conference (NC) against BJP for discriminating with border people, Jammu and Kashmir spokesperson of the party, Balbir Ram Rattan, today said that these parties need to get themselves updated before going public.
Balbir, while reacting to the recent statement of NC leaders for charging BJP of discriminating with border residents, said that it is in fact, NC and Congress whose policies towards these people had been discriminatory during their rule.
He said they discriminated with border people on the basis of vote bank by granting reservations to LoC residents in Government jobs and educational institutions but denied the same to IB people.
Balbir said that IB residents got justice only after BJP formed Government at the Centre.
As for allotment of five marla plots to the border people is concerned, he said that the idea was proposed by BJP seven years ago and 80 Kanals of land had been identified for the purpose in Hiranagar but on the advice of security forces apprehending mass migration from border areas this proposal was abandoned during the Omar Abdullah Government itself.
The Government initiated the construction of bunkers and Seema Bhawans at safer places. The work is being undertaken at war footing and at many places completed too but the opposition parties suffering from political myopia don’t see this, he added.
He said how NC can level such allegations when the party was itself formed against the Maharaja who belonged to Jammu.
Balbir, while setting records straight said first time, Jammu got mega projects under BJP rule and every single project sanctioned for Jammu has been completed in record time and many are near completion.
The Union Government led by Narendra Modi, gifted one AIIMS for Jammu and one for Kashmir simultaneously but the one in Jammu has even started first batch of 50 students while in Valley the project is on slow pace.
