APS Miran Sahib dominates in U-17 boys handball

JAMMU, May 21: Army Public School Miran Sahib dominated Day-1 in handball Under-17 boys of the District Level Inter-School Tournaments in various sports disciplines, which got underway at different venues, here today.
The Tournament, in which 470 players drawn from various Government/ Private institutions of District Jammu are taking part is being held in the disciplines of basketball, handball, throw ball, softball and rifle shooting.
Earlier, Tirath Ram, District Youth Services and Sports Officer, Jammu declared the tournament open in an impressive function,while interacting with the players on the occasion, the officer enquired about the facilities being provided to them during the tournament.
In handball, Under-17 boys APS Miran Sahib got better of Rainbow Public School in a tough contest by 2 goals (8-6), while in another match APS Domana defeated High School Chander Baga by 2 goals (5-3). In other matches of this category, Spring Dales HSS trounced KC Public School by 7 goals (16-9), BSF Paloura blanked St Peter School by five goals to nil (5-0) and Heritage School defeated SD Tara Puri by a margin of 5 goals (6-1).
St Peter School defeated APS Domana by 4 goals to one (4-1) in an easy contest in handball Under-14 boys.
In basketball, Under-14 boys, St Peter HS defeated Heritage Public School by 5 points (7-2), KC Pubic got better of  Model Academy by one point (4-3), MHAC Nagbani outplayed APS Domana by 8 points and Model Academy defeated DPS by 5 points (7-2), while in basketball Under-17 boys, APS Domana prevailed over SOS by 8 points (10-2), APS Kalu Chak defeated DPS by 4 points and KC Public School scripted a narrow win over their rival by 2 points (10-2).
