JAMMU, May 21: Defeating their rivals convincingly in the summit clashes, Kaniksh of Udhampur and Divyam of Jammu clinched the badminton Under-14 and Under-17 boys title trophies respectively in the Divisional Level Inter-District badminton, table tennis, chess and carrom tournaments, which concluded at Indoor Complex, MA Stadium, here.
Ved Parkash, Deputy Director Youth Services and Sports was the chief guest of the valedictory function and distributed trophies, mementoes, certificates and medals among the winners and runners-up teams and the players.
Speaking on the occasion, he encouraged the participants by lauding their will and valour for participating in the event with enthusiasm despite scorching heat and humid conditions.
He further advised the players to take part in games with true sporting spirit.
Earlier, in badminton Under-14 singles final, Kaniksh of Udhampur defeated Sabhinav of Jammu by two sets to one (2-1) by (21-17, 10-21, 21-17), while in badminton Under-14 doubles final, Kaniksh and Sayam of Udhampur outplayed Arjun and Rochier of Jammu in straight sets by (21-4, 21-9).
In badminton Under-17 boys singles title clash, Divyam of Jammu toppled Ashish Mahajan of Udhampur by (21-10, 21-10), while in doubles, Nalin and Parth of Jammu got better of Harsh and Aditya of Udhampur by (21-9, 21-18) in straight sets.
Meanwhile, in badminton Under-14 girls, Parik Thapa of Jammu drubbed Fiza of Kishtwar in singles final, while in doubles final, Parik and Sazzle of Jammu prevailed over Fiza and Sonia of Kishtwar by (21-6, 21-3).
In badminton Under-17 girls, Mitakshra of Jammu defeated Maigha of Kathua to win singles final, while in doubles final, Saubhangini and Mitakshra of Jammu outplayed Durga and Megha of Kathua.
Meanwhile in table tennis Under-17 boys, Divyam defeated Muneeb, Propkar of Poonch drubbed Arshad of Jammu, Sudhanshu of Jammu outplayed Olive of Poonch and Divyam of Jammu outclassed Propkar of Poonch, while in table tennis Undert-17 girls, Janvi of Jammu prevailed over Sahila of Kishtwar, Shreya of Jammu got better of Uzma of Kishtwar, while Shweta and Nikita duo of Jammu drubbed Sahila and Uzma of Kishtwar.
