JAMMU, May 22: Director General Youth Services and Sports Navin Aggarwal today batted for segregation of sports activities in specific sports disciplines in the the State to ensure that there is no overlapping of the same at district, division or State level and not to talk of the national level.
Mr Aggarwal while chairing the meeting of the heads of various Sports Associations at Gandhi Nagar here, advised them to coordinate with the Department of Youth Services and Sports and release their activity calendars well in time so that there is comprehensive scheduling of sports activities, without much overlapping, to provide more opportunities for the players and promote sports and games in the nooks and corners of the State.
He said it has been observed in the past that there is overlapping calendar of the sports activities in the State, which debars talented players from opportunity as they can hardly participate in more than one event in a particular sports discipline at the district, division, State or national level.
Meanwhile, Aggarwal agreed to a suggestion given by head of one of the Associations to constitute ‘DYSS Sports Advisory Committee’ for enhancing standard of games in the State and said the same would be framed at an earliest.
He assured the office bearers of the Sports Associations that particular zones would be made hub of particular sports discipline as per their suggestions, keeping in view the talent of the players and strength of the zones.
Some members demanded long duration coaching camps for better results and DG Sports assured them holding at least 15-days coaching camps prior to the participation of the teams in National Level events.
