RAJOURI, Feb 15: GDC Nowshera inaugurated two days inter-semester sports tournament at College premises, here today.
The tournament was inaugurated by Dr Surinder Kumar, College Principal in presence of Dr Akhil Khajuria, Convener Sports Committee and other faculty members.
In his inaugural speech, the Principal highlighted the importance of sports activities in addition to academics in life. He also encouraged girl students to come forward and participate in sports activities.
In men section, six teams each of Volleyball and Tug of War will be participating while in women section, two teams each discipline are taking part.
Four quarter final matches were played in mens section. The first match was played between BA semester-V and BSc Semester-I teams in which the latter won the match by 2-1. The second match was played between college staff team and BSc Semester-V team wherein the latter team was declared winners by 2-1.
The semi-final matche were played in which the team of BSc Semester -I won the match by defeating BA semester-I and qualified for the finals. The finals both in men and women section for Volleyball and Tug of War tournaments will be held on February 16.
