LEH, Feb 15: Braving the bone chilling minus temperature in the region, Student’s Council of Elizer Jolden Memorial (EJM) today staged a sit-in protest in front of their college, over delay in declaration of results.
Demanding declaration of their result on time, the students also took out a protest rally this morning from EJM College to Leh main gate to express concern over delay in declaration of results. The agitated students also raised slogans against Kashmir University and local administration failing to solve their grievances.
The students complained that the delay in declaration of results of all the courses of graduation has been a regular phenomenon due to which they have been facing problems and losing their precious years of their career. They also demanded de-affiliation of EJM College, Leh from Kashmir University and its affiliation with Ladakh University so that they don’t have to face delay-result problems in future.
The protesting students alleged that their genuine demands are not being taken seriously by the concerned authorities and the public representatives and so they were forced to come out on street to protest.
EJM Student’s Council president Ali Hussain said that students’ delegation also met with Ladakh Lieutenant Governor RK Mathur with the same issue but he failed to solve their problems till date. “We got ourselves enroll in the EJM college Leh expecting to complete the three years degree on time but it’s been 5 years since 2016,” Ali added.
“Currently I’m in the 5th semester but my 3rd year semester result is not declared till date and we are forced to protest in these chilly conditions,” said EJM College Student’s Council vice president Ibtasum Iqbal. She question why the Kashmir University takes 7 to 8 months to declare their result on time when all marks are submitted to them on time by EJM College Leh.
SOUL president Padma Stanzin and its general secretary Anis Rehman said that they will sit on protest dharna till Kashmir University declare their results.
