JAMMU, Feb 19: National Democratic Party Indian (NDPI) has shown concern over hike in petrol and diesel prices and has said that several solutions are before the Government to control this.
In a handout NDPI president for J&K, Rajesh Gupta said that fuel prices will come down once the Centre builds a consensus to bring petrol and diesel under the Goods and Services Tax (GST).
He said petrol and diesel prices are defined by international crude oil rates.
Gupta claimed if petrol and diesel are brought under GST their prices will come down.
“Reluctant to cut losses, the Government is weighing on options before taking a step that could either provide a relief to the consumers or hamper its revenue prospects,” he maintained adding that many people have flayed the Government for collecting huge revenues by levying over 100 per cent taxes on petrol and over 68 per cent on diesel at a time when people across the country are crying for some relief measures.
