‘Friendship Cup T-20 Cricket Series’

JAMMU, Feb 28: Media XI Cricket Club Jammu defeated Jammu United XI by 7 wickets in the ongoing ‘Friendship Cup T-20 Cricket Series’, being played at MA Stadium, here today.
Earlier, Jammu United skipper Pawan Parihar won the toss and decided to bat first. On a double paced wicket with low bounce, batsmen of Jammu United were not comfortable and they kept on loosing wickets at a regular interval.
Skipper of Media XI Cricket Club Vivek Suri rotated his bowlers wisely which paid dividend as they restricted Jammu United to 95 for all out in 20 overs. Vishal Sharma scored 19 runs and Pawan Parihar contributed 10 runs for the team.
From Media-XI, Rahul Khatri took 3 wickets, Nitin Thakur, Faheem Tak and Ranjit Singh took 2 wickets whereas Vivek Suri took 1 wicket each.
Chasing the target, Media XI started on a brisk note as Amit Kumar was on a cracking mood. He hit two towering sixes before he was out on 26. Gurdeep Singh contributed 20 runs to the total and Media XI chased the required runs in 13.4 overs.
From Jammu United, Yasir, Ajeet and Arif picked up 1 wicket a piece.
On the occasion, Parveen Choudhary, Sarpanch Kehli Mandi Samba was the chief guest, while the guest of honour was Ravinder Singh Sarpanch Supwal Samba.
While speaking on the occasion Parveen Choudhary said, “Media professionals are the real warriors as they have been performing duties during the challenging times of COVID-19 pandemic and both the teams have set a great example for the youth to break the shackles and pick up sports again”.
He later presented runners up trophy to the Jammu United XI followed by Man of the Match award to Rahul Khatri.
Later, Media XI skipper Vivek Suri was presented the winning trophy by the chief guest.
In the end, Rahul Khatri from Media-XI presented the vote of thanks.
