Maj Jamwal creates history, conquers Everest twice

JAMMU, May 25: Hailing from a small Village ‘Badhori’ in District Samba, Maj Ranveer Singh Jamwal, has created history by becoming first individual from the State to conquer Mt Everest twice.
This young and dynamic Officer of the Indian Army is the first individual from his State to have the glory of climbing the highest mountain in the world more than once.
He has also the honour of becoming the first individual from his State to lead a major joint expedition from his State and his leadership qualities need no words to define as he has successfully led the expedition which showed 100% success not only in terms of climbing but also in ensuring safety of the entire team.
Earlier, Jamwal had climbed Everest in 2012, thus making a record of climbing the same in two successive years.
Meanwhile, the expedition was flagged off in India on April 3, 2013 and in Nepal on April 10, 2013 by Chief of the Indian Army and the Nepal Army respectively.
Team 1 was led by Maj Jamwal and they successfully summited on May 19, 2013 and in order to ensure safety of team 2, Jamwal with utter disregard to his personal comfort and safety himself stayed at Camp 4 (South Col ), popularly known as the “Death Zone “ in order to ensure safety of team 2.
According to Army his selfless attitude has made him a great individual in the Indian Army and
his passion of mountaineering has no bounds as he has successfully scaled highest peaks of Asia, South America and Africa.
