JAMMU, Mar 3: 28th Annual Football Championship was inaugurated by ZA Thakur, president Jammu and Kashmir Football Association (JKFA) at GGM Science College Ground, here today.
The inaugural match was played between DFA Udhampur and DFA Doda wherein DFA Udhampur defeated DFA Doda by 7-0 goals, whereas the second match was played between DFA Samba and DFA Kishtwar in which DFA Samba trounced DFA Kishtwar by 4-1 goals.
The 3rd match was played between Param Sports FC Jammu & DFA Ramban. The match was ended in 1-1 draw; thereafter the match was decided by tie breaker in which Param FC got better of Ramban by 8-7 goals.
The chief guest said that from next year, the championship will be conducted at four venues including Srinagar, Jammu, Sopore and Anantnag simultaneously to give a boost to young budding talent.
The championship was inaugurated in presence of SS Bunty, Fayaz Ahmad Sofi, Narinder Gupta (former Member Sports Council), Yusaf Don, Feutus Sotra, Mohan Lal and Prof BA Shah.
