NCC camp culminates at Nagrota

JAMMU, Mar 3: Naval Unit from Group Headquarters, Srinagar successfully culminated 10 days long Annual Training Camp under the aegis of NCC Directorate JK&L. The camp that involved 400 boys and Girl Cadets from various colleges right from northern most Uri to Kathua was conducted at NCC Camping Ground, Nagrota.
IGP Jammu Region, Mukesh Singh, was chief guest during the concluding function. His presence and an inspirational address by him enthralled the cadets. He emphasised upon important role of NCC in Nation building and asked young NCC cadets to explore the sea of opportunities that has opened for them post Abrogation of Art 370. DDG NCC, Brig NR Babu also addressed the cadets and congratulated them for their remarkable involvement and spirited performance throughout the camp. He conveyed gratitude to IGP for his motivational presence on the occasion.
NCC Directorate has steadily resumed Camps and various other training activities for the cadets from two UTs.
The camp covered amalgamate of several physical and academic training activities under a planned curriculum which saw cadets remained occupied from early morning till late evenings. While the morning and day sessions were scheduled to have PT, Parade, Battle Obstacles, Ship Modelling, Classroom Instructions, Guest Lectures, Rallies on Social and Community development issues, the Evening sessions were charged up with competitive and recreational matches of Volleyball, Basketball, Badminton, Tug of War and several fun filled games.
BMO Nagrota provided complete support to conduct Rapid Antigen COVID tests for all cadets on arrival and ensured briefing of cadets to adhere to all the guidelines on COVID-19.
Rallies on important social issues like ‘Swachata Abhiyan, Jal hi Jeevan, Say No to Drugs’, were carried out by the cadets in the areas adjacent to camp site. Guest lectures by Fire and Emergency Services, Jammu, refreshed knowledge of cadets in most practical manner. Guest lecture on drug abuse by Chandan Datta and a pledge against drug menace ensured an extremely beneficial interaction for cadets.
As a part of ongoing campaign to commemorate “Swarnim Vijay Divas” of 1971 war, Cadets also undertook several activities like Quiz Competition, Poster making Competition, Screening of Movies and kectures by Defence officers on 1971 war.
The role of NCC in moulding the youth of JK&L towards a disciplined, selfless and character oriented citizen ensures their promising contribution towards the future of Nation. The IGP applauded the efforts of NCC in resuming the training activities and ensuring a successful camp under COVID guidelines.
