POONCH, Mar 5: First Edition of Poonch Premier League (PPL) T-20 Cricket Tournament, organised by EHSAAS Foundation, commenced at Sports Stadium, here today.
About eight teams including Poonch Royals, Poonch Knight Riders, Poonch Warriors, Poonch Thunders, Poonch Smashers, Poonch Tigers, Poonch Super Kings and Poonch Panthers are taking part in this tournament.
SSP Khalid Ameen inaugurated the tournament in presence of Rayaz Naz, Sohail Malik (DDC member), Tehsildar Anjum Khatak, Nirdosh Kumar I/c Manager Sports Stadium Poonch, DySP Azeem Querashi, DySP HQ Nawaz Chouhan, DYSSO Poonch Mohd Qasim, Azam Rather Tehsil Officer, Harcharan Singh, Prem Prakash Luthra (vetreran cricketer), Sanjeev Kumar Principal MPS, Molvi Fareed, Asif Mir and many others.
The opening match was played between Poonch Super Kings and Poonch Knight Riders.
Batting first, Poonch Knight Riders scored 120 runs by losing nine wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Lovely scored 35 runs. From bowling side, Sahil Bhatti took three wickets, while Asif and Rayaz shared two wickets each.
In reply, the Super Kings bundled out at 109 by losing nine wickets in 20 overs and lost the match by nine runs. From bowling side, Lovely bagged three wickets and was declared as man of match for his outstanding performance.
The match was officiated by Rajinder Singh Toofan, Sanjay Misri, Navjot Singh and Manzoor Ahmed, whereas the tournament is being organised by Pervaiz Malik Afridi, chairman EHSAAS Foundation Poonch under technical supervision of Pawan Kumar, JKCA.
