JAMMU, Mar 9: 47th UT level Badminton Championship, organised by Badminton Association of Jammu and Kashmir (BAJK), culminated at Indoor Sports Complex MA Stadium, here today.
Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Farooq Khan was the chief guest of the event who gave away prizes to winners and runner-ups, whereas Former Minister Chander Parkash Ganga and president BAJK presided over the function and Secretary Sports Council, Nuzhat Gul, Joint Commissioner IRS, Umair Mir, Dr OD Sharma, chairman BAJK, Zafar Iqbal CAO JKSC, Ashok Singh Divisional Sports Officer and Satish Gupta Manager JKCA were among the dignitaries who graced the closing ceremony.
Speaking on the occasion, the chief guest stressed upon the need for more and more sports among the youth and assured that required infrastructure for all the disciplines will be coming up.
About 250 players from all over the J&K UT participated in this tournament.
Shourya Pratham and Shourya Jasrotia remained winner and runner-up in boys single under-13, whereas in girls single, Suhani Sharma and Shambhavi Rajput stood runner-up and winner. In boys single under-15, Ibrahim Qureshi and Shourya Pratham clinched winner and runner-up while in girls category, Krishika and Shambhavi secured winner and runner up trophies respectively.
In boys single under-19, Sehdev Singh and Bhavey Sharma stood 1st and 2nd while in girls single category, Unnati Jaral and Bhavini Dalpatia won winner and runner-up trophies and in women single, Unnati Jaral and Bhavini Dalpatia stood 1st and 2nd respectively besides in women double, Unnati and Krishika stood winner while Shirjus and Shambhavi remained runner-up and in men single, Raghav Dogra and Vipul Saini secured winner and runner-up trophies.
Consolation prizes went to Harsh Sharma, Bhavdeep Singh, Sherya Gupta, Udhyan Sharma, Devansh, Tarandeep Kour, Neelkanth Sharma, Amrinder Singh, Ravdeep Singh, Abhijit Jasrotia and Taha Ajaz.
Balbir Jamwal was the organising secretary, whereas Rahul Sharma, Sat Pal Sharma and Vikram Saini were among technical panel.
