CS reviews welfare, development of SCs, Kissans

SRINAGAR, May 28: To ascertain the implementation status of decisions taken in State Advisory Boards, Chief Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Khandey today  chaired review meetings of J&K State Advisory Boards for the Welfare and Development of SCs and Development of Kissans.
Chief Secretary reiterated Government’s resolve of uniform development of all sections of the society and its endeavour to address community specific issues and concerns in a time bound and effective manner.
Regarding implementation of reservation rules under various schemes, the Chief Secretary asked the School Education Department to collect actual figures of community specific representation district wise across the State so that any vacancy or under representation is suitably covered on fast track basis.
The meeting was informed that as many as 80,000 students have been granted pre-matric scholarships by the Social Welfare Department. It was decided that the eligibility criteria for grant of pre-matric scholarship be minimized further to cover more SC students and other eligible students under the scheme.
In addition to these issues, promotions, reservation benefits in various Government institutions, private sector, constructions of hostels, SC Bhawans etc were also deliberated during the meeting with directions to expedite the implementation process.
In another meeting, Chief Secretary reviewed the implementations of decisions for the development of Kissans. The meeting was informed that during the year 2012-13 as many as 20 awareness camps have been organized across the State by the Kisan Advisory Board for the benefit of the farmers.
The Chief Secretary asked the Agriculture Department to also take the Kissan Advisory Board members on-board while implementing the project for the construction of Vermi Compost pits in each district to give further boost to organic farming. He also directed Planning Department to expedite the proposal for establishment of 656 dairy units.
Matters pertaining to horticulture, floriculture, construction of Kisan Bhawan at Lal Mandi Srinagar etc also came up for discussion during the review meeting.
Principal Secretary Planning and Development B. R. Sharma, Administrative Secretaries, officials from Advisory Boards and other senior officers were present during the review meetings.
