Jawan kills colleague, arrested

JAMMU, May 28: An Army jawan was gunned down by his colleague during night duty at the fence area in Kalal sector of Nowshera tehsil in Rajouri district last night.
An Army jawan Ratinder Kumar, son of Varinder Choubey, a resident of Dumaroan in district Buxor, Bihar, posted with 33 Rashtriya Rifles and deployed at Post No. 1 near the fence opened firing on his colleague Mukesh Kumar Tiwari son of Kamal Shankar Tiwari of Achhola, Neja in Allahabad at 11.30 am with an AK-47 rifle killing him on spot.
Ratinder Kumar brought his AK-47 rifle from the post and fired at Tiwari, killing him on spot.
SSP Rajouri Mubassir Latifi said the accused Ratinder Kumar has been arrested. One AK-47 rifle, seven empty cartridges, 23 live cartridges and one magazine were recovered from his possession. The AK rifle has been used in committing the crime.
The Army jawan has been booked under Section 302 RPC in FIR No. 115/2013 at Nowshera police station.
Preliminary investigations by police revealed that both the jawans were known to each other and had some family feud. However, Ratinder Kumar was being quizzed to ascertain exact reasons for the provocative step.
The Army has also ordered a Court of Inquiry into the incident.
