PC to lock horns with Bhagwati CC in finals

JAMMU, Mar 26: Scripting convincing victories over their rivals in the semi-finals today, Press Club-XI and Bhagwati Cricket Club have sealed their berth in the finals and will lock horns against each other in the summit clash of the ongoing Trimurti Yadgaar Balidan T20 Cricket Cup, here tomorrow.
The tournament which is being played in the memory of martyrs- Bhagat Singh, Rajguru and Sukhdev and organised by National Secular Forum (NSF) with an objective of serving twin purpose of promoting sports and peace and harmony.
Earlier, in the first match, Press Club XI defeated NSF XI by a big margin of 85 runs in an easy contest.
Batting first, Press Club scored a decent total of 166 runs in the stipulated 20 overs, losing seven wickets in the process. Saksham top scored with 29 runs, while Rupesh, Sumit, Rohit and Vaneet contributed 27, 26, 19 and 15 runs respectively to the total . For NSF XI, Praful Dhar, Vikram, Huzaif, Abu and Adil claimed one wicket each.
In reply, NSF XI bundled out for 81 runs, thus lost the match by 85 runs. Praful Dhar was the only batsman to show some resistance, scoring 21 runs off 32 deliveries with 2 boundaries, while no other batsman could cross the double figure mark. For Press Club, Naveen Koul was the wrecker-in-chief who took four wickets, while Saksham claimed two wickets. Naveen Koul was declared as man of the match for his superb bowling.
In another match, Bhagwati CC got the better off JU Employees XI by three wickets in a close contest.
Batting first, JU XI scored a modest total of 125 runs. First-class cricketer Henan Malik top scored with 47 runs, studded with 6 boundaries, while Pankaj and Sumit contributed 17 and 12 runs to the total respectively. For Bagwati Club, Rajkumar was the pick of the bowlers, who took four wickets, while Sonu, Ashok and Rishu claimed one wicket each.
In reply, Bagwati Cricket Club reached the target in 19th over by losing seven wickets. Vishal and Rajkumar contributed 28 and 26 runs respectively. For JU, skipper Rajkumar Bakshi took three wickets, while Ashok, Avtar and Vishal claimed one wicket each. Rajkumar of Bhagwati CC was adjudged as man of the match.
Abhay Gupta Pargal, National Executive member SAKSHAM was the chief guest of the first match, while Ankush Abrol, former member BCCI was the chief guest in the second match and Dr Vinod Bakshi, Physical Director GGM Science College; Rajesh Dhar, former chairman media committee JKCA and Dr Vikas Sharma, president NSF were the guests of honour.
The tournament is being held under the overall supervision of Dr Vikas Sharma, president NSF who is being assisted by Sachin Singh and Ashok Kumar.
