JAMMU, Apr 9: Former Minister and ex MLA Marh, Ch Sukhnandan Kumar today conducted an extensive tour of Bishnah areas and inspected the on-going renovation and repair works on the main D_9 Sub Canal and its distributaries.
Former Minister inspected the entire stretch of Ranbir canal and its distributaries right from Kunjwani to tail end points and Bishnah tehsil.
While expressing dissatisfaction over the progress, former Minister advised the Irrigation Department to speed up the pace and complete the desilting work so that the water is released in the canal at the earliest.
As only two days are left for release of water in the canal but still there is lot of work of desilting of canal is left.
While interacting with the farming community of different villages such as Bishnah, Bane Chak, Chagda, Miyan Chak, Nandpur, Sedgarh and Chimne Chak, he alleged that people are not satisfied with the desilting work of minor canals which is going with low pace .
Former Minister urged Lt. Governor, Manoj Sinha seeking his intervention in the matter and directed the concerned department to speed up the disilting work of these minor canals so that farming community can have irrigation facility on time as the sowing of paddy season is coming.
He further added that in Bishnah area farming community mostly use Honda Pump sets to irrigate their land which are run only on kerosene oil. As the kerosene oil is banned for cooking purpose, Government should make arrangements to provide kerosene oil to the farming community who uses pump sets.
Former Minister was accompanied by Ex Sarpanch, Shahpur Raghunandan Khajuria, Sarpanch Chak, Avtara, Surjeet Singh, member Kisan Board, Basant Singh, Ch.Vijay Singh of Nandpur and Roop Lal Sharma of Maghal.
