KATHUA: Apr 9: District Police Kathua under the overall supervision of SSP, R C Kotwal, today apprehended an drug peddler and dreaded criminal who was having more than half a dozen of FIRs of heinous offences in his name in the UT of J&K and Punjab State. The contraband which he was smuggling has also been seized by the police on the spot.
On reliable information of Anti Drug Unit Kathua and under the supervision of DySP Operations Kathua, Bhisham Dubey a joint team led by Inspector Vishal Kumar of Anti Drug Unit and Police Station (PS) Rajbagh today apprehended an drug peddler and notorious criminal namely Gagu Din, son of Sharif Mohd. @Shifu resident of Korepunnu who had been involved in various criminal activities for long as different FIRs have been registered in different Police Stations of district Kathua viz. FIR No.27/14 US 279,411 RPC,FIR No. 254/18 US 307,341,341,323 RPC, FIR No.171/19 US 307,341,147, 353,382 RPC.
In addition, couple of FIRs also stand registered in Punjab State in different heinous crimes including narcotics peddling and kidnapping.
Today, during the naka laid by joint team of anti drug unit Kathua and PS Rajbagh, he was caught along with seven grams of heroin like substance and an air gun with which he often used to scare people. His bike bearing Registration Number PB07BE-1026 was also seized on spot.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 42/2021 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act,3/25 Arms Act has been registered in PS Rajbagh and further investigation of the case is going on.
