Kingpin of narcotic smugglers arrested, heroin seized

UDHAMPUR, Apr 10: Continuing its offensive to contain the spread of narcotic drugs & psychotropic substances, Udhampur police today achieved a major breakthrough by arresting main supplier of heroin in the area, who was responsible for supplying drugs and trapping innocent youth.
Police also seized 120 grams of heroin from possession of the accused, identified as Hemraj Singh alias Tiger, son of Surinder Singh of Barrian, Udhampur.
He was travelling in XUV- 500 vehicle, bearing Registration Number JK14C-8361, which was intercepted by a Police party, led by Insp Chaman Gorka, SHO PS Rehambal and assisted by Insp Jaswinder Singh, IC PP Tikri, during surprise checking of vehicles at Flata Chowk on NHW-44.
The arrested narcotic smuggler was a habitual criminal and has been named in numerous cases. In this connection, a case FIR Number 71/2021, U/S 8/21/22 NDPS has been registered at PS Rehambal and further investigation of the case is underway.
The operation was conducted under the supervision of SSP Udhampur, Sargun Shukla and DySP Hqrs. Udhampur, Sahil Mahajan.
Pertinent to mention that Udhampur Police was trying to apprehend the said kingpin alongwith consignment since long. Police is also working on the involvement of other narcotic smugglers in this illegal trade so that the innocent youth of Udhampur and its surrounding areas can be saved from the menace of drug addiction.
