Earlier when the video which was shot by some student showing a teacher ruthlessly beating a student went viral, the District Magistrate Srinagar had asked the management of Hope Classes Coaching Institute to appear before it to record their statement.
The officials said that both the parties which include the management of the coaching institute as well as the parents of the students presented their side of the story and the same was recorded.
As per officials, the proceedings have been initiated under Section 107 and other relevant laws, while the teacher has been arrested by the Police.
It has also come to the fore that the management of the Hope Classes has also tendered an apology for the act done while assuring full support in the inquiry.
The viral video also invited ridicule and criticism from the citizens who termed the incident as uncalled for and insensitive. “The teacher is there to teach and not to act like a beast. Such incidents come with lifelong psychological disorders; the concerned teacher must be punished sternly,” said Asif, a local.
Meanwhile, the Coaching Centres Association of Kashmir (CCAK) today expressed its disappointment over the incident while stating that it has constituted a committee to look into the matter and recommend measures so that such incidents do not happen in future.
The Association however cautioned people especially social media users not to get swayed with the video without full knowledge.
“We condemn the incident but people should not read into it too much. Unfortunately, a witch hunt has been launched by people against the teacher and the coaching institute, both of whom are known for their reputation,” the association said.
It said that we all know how the pandemic has affected the students and education sector. So we should be guarded with our views. “Teachers are second parents of a student and no teacher would do anything against the interest of a student; the Association said that it will soon come out with guidelines to prevent such incidents,” it said.
