Guidelines issued to Relief Organization on allotment of quarters at Jagti

SRINAGAR, June 5: The Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation Ministry today issued guidelines to Relief Organization Migrants Jammu regarding the allotment of quarters at Jagti.
The guidelines were issued by Minister of State with Independent charge of Revenue, Relief and Rehabilitation, Aijaz Ahmed Khan after a number of delegations of Kashmir migrants met him at Jammu recently and demanded that the allotment be made in favour of genuine migrants putting up in rented accommodations in the left over quarters in Jagti township near Nagrota Jammu.
According to official sources following the pleas of the migrant delegations, the Ministry issued directives to Relief Organization asking it to verify afresh all the 8000 applications receive by it. For this purpose the Ministry urged the Relief Organization to constitute eight teams of officers not less than the rank of Zonal officers and above to make the verifications by allotting the 1000 applications to each team, sources added.
Sources said the Relief Organization was asked to prepare fresh list of all 8000 applicants and after constituting the team of officers it should be directed to visit each and every migrant family living in rented accommodation to verify the facts. To ascertain that these migrants are really putting up in rented accommodations the team should verify their documents including the power or water bill, admission card of their children or address proof and make allotments accordingly, sources added.
Sources said in case the number of genuine families will be more than 650 the number of quarters available with the relief organization, it should hold draw of lots in Abhinav Theatre for making allotments.
Sources said it is up to the Relief organization whether it will re -verify the 500 families in whose favour the allotment have already been made by it or not. And in case it does not deem necessary to re-verify the families and is satisfied with the list it has to certify the same and put them in the draw of lots for making the allotment system foolproof and remove the apprehensions of the migrants, sources added.
Sources said the Ministry has given six weeks time frame to the Relief Organization to complete the entire process.
Meanwhile, Kashmir Migrants living in rented accommodation have demanded proper verification of all the applications and making of allotments to genuine migrants accordingly.
