Doda, June 5: Road connectivity plays a major part in the development and upliftment of living condition and economic structure of the people.
This was stated by the Minister for PWD (R&B) and Mechanical Engineering, Abdul Majid Wani while laying foundation of various link roads in Assar and Bhaderwah Block.
MLA Ramban Ashok Kumar, MLC Shyam Lal Bhagat , MLC Naresh Kumar Gupta, DDC Doda Mubarak Singh, Chief Engineer R&B Tehsin Mustafa ,ADDC Doda G.N Balwan besides SP Doda Arif Rishu, Chief Medical officer Doda Dr. Ajay Gupta, and other officers were present on the occasion.
At Assar the Minister laid down the foundation stone of Assar – Thandapani road under NABARD, which is going to be constructed by the PWD (R&B) Division Ramban at an estimated cost of Rs. 307.30 lacs and will benefit 20,000 souls living in the area.
While addressing the gathering on the occasion Minister said that Coalition Government under the leadership of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is committed to boost the road connectivity percentage in the region and concrete efforts and projects are being made to provide surface connectivity to the far flung and remote areas so that other allied basic amenities like Education, Medicare, Drinking Water, Power, etc reach to the poor people in a hassle free manner.
The people of Assar also projected various demands on the occasion which include, construction of 8 km Thandapani- Lilote link road, 12 km Kanderi Nallah- Bulandpur link road via Jattar, Thandapani – Goha link road , providing of solar lights to the people living in the area, tempo type ambulance for PHC Assar, teaching staff for various Govt. Schools, upgradation of Govt. Schools.
The Minister also laid the foundation stone of three roads in Bhaderwah which include 2.85 km Naidangri link road and 2.70 km Shahpora Pranoo to Phingota link road which will be constructed at an approximate cost of Rs. 2 crore. He also laid the foundation stone of one 10.450 km Pranoo- Masri PMGSY road which will be constructed by the PMGSY Division Doda at an estimated cost of Rs. 535.03 lacs and will be funded by the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India.
Minister met various deputations and addressed series of public gatherings at Pranoo, Bhalla, Drudhoo and Seri and redressed public grievances on the spot.
The Minister later on convened an officers meet at Dak Bunglow Bhaderwah and reviewed various ongoing developmental activities in the region.
