UDHAMPUR, June 8: Air Force Station (APS) Udhampur, under the aegis of Directorate of Adventure conducted a Basic Para Jumping Course for the air warriors, here today.
The course was conducted by Wing Commander, Vasant Raj, Director, Directorate of Air Force Adventure and his team from May 27, 2013 to June 7, 2013.
A total 31 air warriors successfully completed the course which included 262 para-jumps.
The trainees underwent extensive ground training and demonstration of jumps before carrying out the actual jumps.
During the course, the family members of the air warriors also got an opportunity to fly micro-light aircraft.
On the culmination of the event, a spectacular closing ceremony was held. Air Vice Marshal Jasbir Ahluwalia, VM VSM, Air Officer Commanding Jammu and Kashmir, IAF graced the occasion as the chief guest.
He honoured the successful trainees with para wings. A breathtaking para jump show was also conducted during the ceremony.
During the closing address Group Captain Devendra P Hirani, Station Commander, Air Force Station Udhampur highlighted the aspect that such camps not only inspire and motivate the family members of the air warriors but also civilian counterparts who witnessed the airborne activity during the camp.
