JAMMU, June 16: Wicketkeeper batsman, Atul Sharma and first class cricketer Ramdayal helped Simula XI to drub KCCC by 7 wickets to lift the title trophy of the Salute & Tribute to the Players T20 Open Cricket Tournament, organised by Parade Sports Association at Parade Ground, here.
Batting first, K C Cricket Club scored a modest total of 113 runs in the stipulated 20 overs. Manik Gupta was the top scorer with 24 runs, while Pardeep Bali contributed 19 runs. Bandeep Singh and Gaurav Sharma chipped in with 18 and 16 runs respectively. From Simula XI, Ramdayal took 3 wickets, Dhruv Mahajan 2 wickets, while Shamsher Singh and Shashi Kumar took one wicket each.
In reply, Simula XI achieved the target in 14.2 overs by losing 3 wickets, thus won the match. Atul Sharma was top scorer who scored 58 runs in 38 balls with 12 boundaries, Hardeep Singh Prince scored 31 runs in 18 balls with 6 boundaries, while skipper Dhruv Mahajan chipped in with unbeaten 11 runs off 11 balls, studded with 2 boundaries and remained not out. Manik Gupta of K C Cricket Club took 2 wickets and Akash Chowdhary claimed one wicket. Atul Sharma of Simula XI was adjudged man of match.
The match was officiated by BCCI Penal umpires Sudhir Singh and Amit Gupta as umpires, while Sunny Mehra was the scorer and Dr Karan Nayyar was the physiotherapist.
Meanwhile, the final match of Veteran T-20 Cricket Tournament between Laxmi Cricket Club and J&K Police XI will be played on June 18, 2013 at the same venue, which will be followed by a Prize Distribution Function of both Veteran & Open Tournaments.
